The experience was really enjoyable. Actually, I used Tripvillas as my last resort to get the booking in Wayanad. And it worked like a breeze. Very helpful service staff and the rooms were very well maintained.

Kalarickal Heritage Plantation (KHP) is the perfect place of stay for a Kerala getaway - perfect whether you are a single woman traveller, a couple of honeymooners or like my family, a big group of 15. We stayed there for 4 days to ring in Christmas and also to celebrate our first-ever family reunion. Located amid lush green cardamom, pepper and coffee plantations (the weather reminded me of Lonavala in Maharashtra), this quaint 100 year old heritage home-turned-home-stay houses 6 rooms in its old quarters and 4 relatively modern rooms with wooden floors in the new annexe. We occupied 7 rooms and found each one very comfortable, warm and cosy, replete with soft mattresses, clean linen, ample lighting and patio furniture outside each room – just the right perch to enjoy a spot of reading. As we were a big group, we were also encouraged by the gracious proprietors to monopolise the living room in the evenings, where our group played many-a-game of Housie, Taboo, Dumb Charades and the good ol’ Indian picnic favourite Antakshiri. Some of the highlights of KHP for me included – the pebbled driveway and paths in and around the estate, the tour of the plantations by KHP staff, the basketball court where my cousins and I shot a few baskets, the array of colourful flowers and unusual potted plants which made KHP look like something straight out a postcard, and the food, prepared carefully and with love by the experienced hands of Mary, the cook par excellence (who is incidentally married to the shy but ever-helpful caretaker Joseph). She treated us to numerous cups of tea and coffee on request, as well as local delicacies at meal times– stews, aviyals and meat curries. But it is for her puttu kadala (a steamed rice flour and grated coconut mound served with a spicy dark chickpea curry) that Mary deserves a Nobel Prize! Not only do I intend to go back to KHP whenever my work- and city-weary soul craves a restful retreat (or when I crave a good helping of Mary’s cooking) I also recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a quiet place to just be (with shaky mobile connectivity and free WiFi in some parts, without cable TV), to explore Kerala’s hilly terrain and spice plantations, and to rejuvenate.

As my journey started from Bangalore to Gurvayur, he booked me a decent lodge for the price that I have paid. Next day House owner guided me nicely enroute to River view resorts, picked me from a nearby place, had a warm welcome at his home and we had a great home food. Next day he accompanied and guided me to Ayurvedic spa, Railway station to pick up my guests. He rearranged for a nice boat house, instead of 2 he arranged me a 3 Bed boat house as my requirements changed suddenly due to unexpected expected guest joined us. I have stayed 6 days in this home, and they made us felt that we are in our house. Excellent Food, Excellent Reception. Nice place to relax all in a wonderful house. I recommend strongly for people to relax in cochin, they can definitely visit, at a very very affordable price without missing your home food.

A second visit to Pappastays in the lovely backwaters village of Mannancherry. Perfectly situated very near to Alleppy, but far enough away to give a true cultural experience of village life in Kerala. Pappastays is close to Marari Beach which is beautifully unspoiled and peaceful. Lovely Keralan food is provided as well as expert day trip planning. Enjoyed outings to attend a local festival, a "chukker" - evening drive to another village, dinner and a Malayalam movie - "Mollywood" in Alleppy, ayurvedic treatments, boating on the canals and cycling with local students. A good base to explore the surrounding area, but also the perfect place for hammock swinging and relaxing. Highly recommend a stay with Sasi and Geetha - gracious and welcoming hosts.

Booked this property through an aggregator which displayed this as a resort, but when checkedin, realized that its a homestay. So was highly disappointed. However, for a homestay the facilities were good and the stay was okay.

I spent 10 wonderful days with Auntyji at this lovely place- t Auntyji cooks fabulous home made meals that are sooo tasty, as good as the local restaurants! I have fond memories of drinking fresh coconut juice every morning. Auntyji would get fresh fruit from her garden and needless to say they were so tasty and fresh! Her homey and comfortable approach made my stay highly enjoyable. The bedrooms are comfortable, simple and very clean. I stayed in an air conditioned bedroom (electric air conditioned room) The shower constant had hot water and European standard shower and toilet As a single traveller I felt safe and would highly recommend this guest house to anyone. You will not be disappointed!
