Around 10 kilometres east of Lemvig, on a small tongue of land between the North Sea and Ferring Lake, can be found the Vejlby Dunes region. True to its name, this area is well protected to the west by high, distinctive dunes. This attractive holiday home boasts a great view across the fjord and is ideally situated close to some of the best bathing beaches on Denmark's west coast. For fishing enthusiasts, the area offers great opportunities to land a catch. If you are unlucky, you can try again at the local 'SommerPark' amusement park, which houses a 'put & take' trout lake, and offers many other activities and attractions in the summer months including moto-cross, horse riding, mini golf and a petting zoo. Also well worth a visit is the small fishing port of Thyborøn, with its working harbour. Thyborøn is home to other attractions including the Jutland Aquarium, the Coastal Centre, and the 'Snail House' - a fascinating house decorated with the shells of thousands of crustaceans. Also worth a visit are the old town fortifications and 'Red Barracks', which is home to traditional glassblowing and candymaking workshops and a charming café.
