Charming Apartment near the Shore

The upper floor of the family house, in Dubrovnik, apartment 90m2, of living space, 3*, Kastelani apartment offering for up to 6 guests all year.

It is hard to find a more charming apartment on a more convenient place, in the heart of Dubrovnik district Gruz, without any steps to climb and your car rented or if you come with your own car can drive and park next to entrance door on my private parking , free of any charge. I can even take 2 cars to free my parking, minibus, or van.
In Gruz district where all is within 200 meters, all facilities are guests might need during the stay in the city.

It is just 5-10 minutes away from the old city by excellent air-conditioned city buses, and beaches as well.
The bus ticket cost 1.5 euro and is the most quickest and convenient way of transportation in Dubrovnik, in season time.

Local city buses are very frequent, and going to any destination in the city.
I am sure that as other my guests you will be satisfied with apartment location and position of it in the heart of Dubrovnik, 100 m from ferry port area, as old city is historic place with prices double then mine, and anyway most events are happening in the evening there, ., prices you pay here are far less then in old city as 1 hour car parking if you find it cost 7 $ , and its 24 hours a day I am giving you it free and 1 m from entrance door, no any obstacle to drive and park car
you will not certainly find, with so many cruising ships passengers daily there.

Most guests renting apartments like to prepare food by themselves, and all markets are within 200m from my apartment, while in the old city you have hundreds of restaurants, but just 2 small shops to buy food, very crowded, so anyway for supply you must take bus and come to Gruz district where all you might need you can find, fresh grocery market and fish market as well among other things.

Apartment is big and spacious for comfortable stay of 5 or 6 people. 6th person can sleep on big day room sofa, which can be spread if need to make comfortable additional sofa bed .

Apartment consists of a master bedroom with 3 beds, 2 beds can be easily joined in 1 marriage bed.
Another bedroom with two single beds.
Large day room, with huge spreading sofa bed, can accommodate 6th persons or few small kids pay nothing at all. up to 3 years old. with exit to 10m 2 balcony, with TV, CD, player, radio, flat, WI-FI, internet connection, owner will provide password for unlimited internet use.

Separate big kitchen serving also as a dining place, with a big table and six chairs with all utensils, for preparing food and dining.

Toilet with cabin shower, bidet, laundry washing machine, built-in electric bathroom heather for winter months.

The apartment is air-conditioned and have additional electric oily radiator portable on the wheels which can be if need moved anywhere in the apartment in winter months.
1 private car parking secured for guests, next to the entrance.

Grill for barbecue electric available just bellows entrance stairs to the apartment in the garden.
Owner with family lives down below on separate entrance.
Distance from sea 100 meters, to the harbor, ferry port.

Distance from old town 1.5 km. Local bus station some 30 meters from apartment. Distance to the nearest beach about 1 .5k m or about 10 minutes by local city bus .

Within 200 hundred meters radius numerous useful facilities such as green fresh fruit &, vegetable market along with daily fresh fish and fresh sea shell market.

If you are staying in Dubrovnik for a few days in an apartment, take a walk in the morning to Gruz market, buy some fresh fish, shrimps, squids or an octopus and go for a great diner! While you are there, fresh vegetables from local farmers are also available. While there are parking spots in a vicinity, don't get your hopes up, taking a walk or a local bus is a much better choice!

Gruz market has been completely renovated in 2013 and is now up to the highest standards. Fish is no longer sold in plastic crates, but will be sold on the ice, which meets the European standards. It now also has the facilities for washing and cleaning the fish.

Some stands already open around 6:30 in the morning, but most off the just before 8:00 o'clock when the locals start /shopping/. In the summer the working hours are longer, approximately until 15:00 with the flower stands working even later. Of course, the earlier you get there, the better.

Furthermore, within 200m distance from the apartment you can find a lot of useful facilities, if you enter in the photo section of surrounding area I made, most you can sea, along with the brand new fish market, and green grocery fresh market, and children playground in the park among other things:

Huge shopping mall, post office, banks, two ambulances and pharmacy, numerous c0ffee bars and restaurants, shops, many agencies providing daily trips to local nearby islands with beautiful beaches, if guest desired so, which are not so crowded as ones on the mainland.

Small government-owned agency "Jadrolinija" ships are leaving several times per day to nearby Elaphiti islands: Kolocep, Lopud, and Sipan: journey takes some 30 minutes to 1 hour depending which island you choose to visit.

Ships docked about 100m from apartment and departure/arrive for those beautiful Elaphite islands several times per day, so you can plan to leave in the morning and come back in the afternoon back by same ships.
Islands are beautiful with sand beaches and are covered by thick Dalmatian forest trees.
Ticket prices are very reasonable and are very popular destinations to move away from crowded mainland beaches for local populations and many tourists as well.

In the afternoon or later you are back, or before., as you choose, by the same ship to the city.
You can find out more on Google if you type in Elaphite islands: Kolocep, Lopud, Sipan.
Place where ships are berthed and departed/arrived is called "Gruz" harbor.
Close are also agencies providing daily excursions to Dubrovnik countryside, and Medjugorje, Mostar, Monte Negro etc are within this radius and rent a car and scooters agencies as well.
Mega yachts marina pier is neighboring ship`s berth and is nice promenade place along huge moored big yachts.
Inter city bus station 200 hundred meters away, serve also as coming and departing place for shuttle airport buses, of Dubrovnik airport 22 km away.

Guests coming by plane I pick up with my car at the bus station, without any extra charge and within 1 minute car drive you are at my apartment.

Also, there is a ferry port berth about 100 meters away for guests coming by ferry boat from Italy or other Croatian sea ports or islands.

If You are coming by your own car from the west there is big Dubrovnik bridge 70m high at the W- side approach to the city, the bridge is spanning long bay so you can spare about 15 km driving across the bridge, then to drive around a long bay.

On that huge bridge is a parking place to enjoy the view and make some photos of the harbor with huge passenger cruising ships calling Dubrovnik in season.
When you pass the bridge, you actually enter the city, distance to my apartment is about 1 km and it is easy to drive to my apartment, I will explain you all, data by E-mail when booking is done.

Driving by car or bus to the old city from my apartment will take you some 5 to 10 minutes, till city entrance as in the old city cars is not allowed except emergency ones only.
It is more convenient if you come by car or rent it here to leave it on my private parking and for destinations within the city use public transportation air condition excellent bus services. The bus ticket cost 1.5 euro.

Parking around old city for example cost 7 U.S $ hourly, , but place is almost impossible to find except at very early morning time, there is on the other hand huge underground garage 200 m above old city where 1 hour of parking cost also 7 U.S $ hourly 3 euro, and you have to walk to old city down the steps but on the way back in summer heat it is same way but then uphill, which can be exhausting experience in summer months.

If you use the car, either yours or rent be sure to park it on parking space provided to avoid up to 200 euro fine if car is towed away, if parked on the wrong place.
Bear in mind this, and all my guests I seriously warn to keep this in mind and avoid such situations, as city is jammed with cars in summer months.

Location 30 m from bus stop. Number 1 A, 1 B, and 3 to Pile Gate in Old Town. about 10 minutes depending on time of day.
The bus comes every 15-20 minutes.

Bus stop also has ticket office which is open 7 am-2 pm to buy your tickets. 12 kuna single and 30 kuna day ticket.

the apartment is 500m from Konzum huge shopping mall away.

Also within 500 m are bakeries, restaurants (try Amfora see my review), small shops, two pharmacies, two ambulances, post office, green veggie, and fresh fish market ATMs etc...

some 500m from Main Bus station with links to everywhere including the airport shuttle.
Various other supermarkets, bakeries, cafes, restaurants close by.

On fairly main road but not disturbed by traffic. 1 road up from the main road along harbor side.

Near to port for cruise ship spotting.

100 m from the apartment are docking very fast ferry coming from Split at noon, 2 at the same time, each with 500 passengers, they are so fast making 90 km/h, have to come at noon both as no otherwise free space in the harbor

From Split, they call few big islands and final destination is Dubrovnik, very comfortable and luxury with reasonable price. Third ferry same type is calling at 10 pm, it's very convenient way to reach from Split without a car of course Dubrovnik.

Buses to beaches. (We didn't try these as we'd come from Split and Korcula with lots of beaches) Accommodation Generous. Large living room. Good size kitchen diner. 2 bedrooms. 1 with double + single and 1 with 2 singles. Shower room with washing machine. 3 separate air-conditioners in living room and bedrooms. Very useful in the mini heatwave we experienced. (Other apartments we stayed in during our time in Croatia only had 1 unit for whole apartment) Well equipped. Good WiFi. Service Looked after really well. Cheese, meat and bread & drink on our arrival. Owner led me to hotel where I needed to drop my hire car and gave me a lift back to the apartment. Dubrovnik traffic is MAD. Better to do without if you can. There is room to park a car outside the apartment but.... Owner lives in apartment below so when there was a minor problem with the plumbing he came and fixed it straightaway. At the end of our stay, as our flight out wasn't until 17.30, we were able to leave our suitcases and pick them up later. In fact not just that but the owner helped us to the Bus Station with our cases. Overall a perfect place to stay on a break in Dubrovnik. Highly recommended!!
