Situated between the valley of the Dordogne and the valley of the Lot, this recently renovated property is well place for exploring these two quite distinct regions of France. Labastide Murat (8kms) has all the facilities you might need during your stay as well as an outdoor market every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month and a Farmers' market every Sunday in July and August. It is a lively market town with cafés, restaurants and events throughout the summer months. Gourdon (18Kms), a medieval bastide town, has a weekly Saturday morning market, as does Cahors (43kms) which is famous for its Valentré Bridge and wines. Places to visit include the Grotte du Pech-Merle (30kms) not to be missed, St Cirq Lapopie (44kms), Rocamadour (23kms) and the Gouffre de Padirac (30kms). Watersports like canoeing and kayaking are possible on both rivers and there are endless possibilities for hiking, cycling and horse-riding. The house has its original bread oven which is still used by the owner and he might be persuaded to demonstrate its performance using flour milled at the Moulin Fortifié de Cougnaguet (22kms) which is itself worth a visit. The property is wheelchair friendly.
