The house has a very large living room with a unique arched ceiling, and great views up to the surrounding hillside. The house is C17 and built of stone, so it's cool in the hot summer weather and a good breeze comes down from the hillside. The small terrace at the front door is the best place for this, but there is another larger terrace in the garden, beneath the vine. This is good for lunch when the weather is hot, and a barbecue is ready for some out-door cooking. The swimming pool is available for use as required, to be found round the corner. It is well maintained and has amazing views down the valley. Summer bookings are increasingly popular, so if you're looking at July or August, it's advisable to book soon.
Guest access
You may make use of all the space in the house. Some garden items are kept in the locked store-room below the bedroom, which you may use.

The neighbourhood
The Ligurian countryside is superb - beautiful, varied, colourful and above all Italian! The nearby town of Dolcedo is peaceful and quiet, with a few small shops, restaurants, a pharmacy, a post office and cafes. A good supermarket (conad) can be found on the outskirts of Porto Maurizio, the coastal town, which is quite close. This is an old Roman town, with a lovely port and a good sandy beach nearby, with a free swimming area. Or go out on the mole to the Il Moletto cafe, which also has its own small, exclusive beach for guests. The sea in the area is blue and very clean. From the house there are good walks, and going up beyond the village of Lecchiore you will find some woods where there are mountain pools and streams where you can swim (if the water's not too cold for you) Vegetable markets, antique shops, fishing ports, yacht marinas and seaside cafe's are all to be found along this stretch of coast, in easy reach of the house.
Getting around
A car is required, but there are buses which will take you down the hill to the village and back again, though they are not frequent. If you wish to walk to Dolcedo, follow the path down and away from the village, pass the little church and about 50 meters on turn right down the hill. It's a good path and an interesting walk which takes about half an hour, but longer coming back up the hill.
Other things to note
Please be considerate when parking. If possible use space economically, parking on the left by the fig tree, as the space in front is used by people who live in the village.
