A thirteenth- century fortified village. The houses and apartments bear the names of its former inhabitants. Enclosed inside the medieval walls, the careful restored houses have retained the simplicity of rural life.
We offer accommodation in rooms and apartments which are suitable either for couples who wish to relax in the tranquillity of a Tuscan village or families and groups of friends who wish to stay together in larger units apartments.
The superior rooms and holiday apartments have all comforts, smaller living area, kitchenette and most of them have a functioning fireplace. We have no TV in the room and this reflects our philosophy of a break from every day’s life. But we do have Wi-Fi access.
Just outside the village is our panoramic swimming pool with ivy pergola for light lunch during the day. You can relax and rest in one of the most beautiful spots of the village with great view over the Val di Chiana. The pool is 7.5 x 18 meters long and there are changing rooms and bathroom with shower.
After a long walk in our forest trails, relax in the Limonaia garden and sit at our bar with view of our medieval tower and the woods surrounding the village. During colder seasons, you can relax in our former olive press room with Bar and fireplace.
Our restaurant La Torre di Gargonza serves a typical Tuscan cuisine with hand made pasta and the famous Chianina beef served on the grill. It has a beautiful panoramic room and a stone room inside the restaurant ideal also for reception dinners.
ACCOMMODATION
Superior apartments for 3 people;
These are located in the central part of the village, all facing both the Chiana Valley and the inside roads of the village. They are all on two floors and have separate kitchen area, WiFi is available and AC as well.
1) Nando: a great view of Val di Chiana from the bedroom located on the second floor. This apartment is on two floors with access by flight of stone steps, first floor: living-room with fireplace, kitchen in separate room; second floor: bedroom, double or twin beds, bathroom with bathtub/shower, 3rd single bed in the hallway outside the bedroom.
2) Boccio: climb to the bedroom on first floor and sleep nested under an original Tuscan ceiling; on two floors, faces the Chiana Valley; ground floor: living-room with kitchen area and fireplace, bathroom with shower and extra bed if required; first floor (steep stairs) : bedroom with double bed, bathroom with bathtub/shower.
3) Deo: our favourite! Steep terracotta steps leads to this spacious apartment with particular views over the Castle’s roofs and chimney’s; living-room with kitchen area and fireplace, sofa-bed, bathroom with shower, connecting room; nice bedroom with view, double or twin beds, bathroom with bathtub.
The rooms of the Castle are located over various buildings within the village. There are 13 buildings which maintain their authentic structure and original atmosphere thanks to a careful restoration process. The comforts are modern while the atmosphere retains the feel of long ago. There are three types of accommodations; comfort, classic, and superior, housing from one to four guests in utmost comfort.
Superior rooms with 2 beds - Superior rooms of the Castle retain the real essence of it’s past. Superior rooms are often Suite’s with a living area, a cosy fireplace in each room and a kitchenette, WiFi, Mini bar and special views from all parts of the village and also over the beautiful Chiana Valley.
1) Niccolina, the first apartment from where we started!: one-room flat, first floor, access by flight of stone steps, overlooking a small garden; living-room with fireplace at the end of the bed, double or twin beds, bathroom with bathtub/shower.
2) Pacche, very spacious and comfortable for those who do not like stairs; one-room flat, south view over surrounding woods; living-room with kitchen area, fireplace, double bed, bathroom with bathtub/shower, extra single bed if required.
3) Canapino, the medieval key apartment: one-room flat, south view over surrounding woods; living-room with kitchen area, fireplace, double bed, bathroom with bathtub/shower, extra bed if required.
4) Palle, breakfast on the private terrace with view: two-room flat, first floor, access by flight of stone steps, faces south east overlooking Chiana Valley; one bedroom, double or twin beds, bathroom with bathtub/shower, living-room with kitchen area and fireplace.
5) Pietrino: medieval stone steep stairs, wooden steep stairs to climb to the room, but once there a great view…two-room flat on two floors, access by flight of stone steps under a vine pergola, faces south overlooking surrounding woods. First floor: living-room with kitchen area and fireplace; second floor (steep stairs): bedroom, double or twin beds, bathroom with bathtub/shower.
6) Fattore I 19: on first floor, access by inside stairs; 3 double rooms: one faces south-east, bedroom with double/twin beds (private bathroom), living-room with fireplace and kitchen area.
7) Fattore II 22 high ceiling and all comforts: on first floor, faces overlooking Chiana Valley; 1 private main bedroom with double or twin beds, private bathroom, living-room with kitchenette and sofa bed;
The Cave house Number 9 houses a namesake master bedroom. It is very spacious, and includes a small living room in a hall with a queen-sized sofa bed, armchair, as well as a bathroom with shower and bathtub. Accommodates three guests in utmost comfort. The structure faces south, overlooking pine trees and the nearby forests.
Fattore II room 23, one comfort room with private bath, bathtub, shower and extra bed in separate room facing the medieval tower.
In address, the Foresteria 4 house boasts a spacious junior suite, queen-sized (or double) bed, living-room with sofa bed. As well as two bathrooms, one with a bath tub, and the second equipped with a shower. It also has a mini bar and a telephone. The structure faces the street that borders the village wall, next to the town entrance.

2) Cave the old quarry of the village: two-room flat on ground floor that faces south overlooking a pine-tree garden. One bedroom (double bed), bathroom with bathtub/shower, extra bed in the hallway outside the bedroom
3) Foresteria 4; practical, close to the entrance of the village, no stairs and a nice room with two bathrooms (one with shower and one with bathtub)
Under the Arch apartment- these five renovated apartments are located in the central part of the village on second and third floor. They all have great view over the red Tuscan roofs and some very close view of the tower. They all have access from a patio which faces the main square of the village.
4) Lucia, the biggest under the arch, ideal for a couple with young kid: two-room flat, first floor, faces the main square of the village; living-room with kitchen area and fireplace, bathroom with bathtub, bedroom with double bed.
5) Santi: the closest view of the tower; two-room flat, second floor, access by inside stairs, faces north-south with view; living-room with kitchen are and fireplace, bathroom with bathtub, bedroom with double bed – good accommodation. 2 pax maximum.
6) Celso a cosy accommodation: two-room flat, first floor, faces north-south with view; living-room with kitchen area and fireplace, bathroom with bathtub, bedroom with double bed.
7) Sesta best views of Castle’s chimneys: two-room flat, second floor, access by inside stairs, faces north-south with view; living-room with kitchen area and fireplace, bathroom with bathtub, bedroom with double bed.
8) Tullio: a romantic fireplace overlooking the bed: on second floor, faces south-west overlooking the tower and the square, access by inside stairs; little kitchenette, bathroom with bathtub, large room with double bed, living-room are and fireplace – good accommodation. 2 pax maximum.
Superior apartment for 4 people;
1) Fonteblanda I steep stairs reach the pigeon tower which was the old fortified viewpoint of medieval walls: on first floor, faces the woods of the Chiana Valley; living-room with fireplace, kitchenette in separate room; 2 double rooms with double or twin beds, 2 private bathrooms with bathtub;
2) Guardia for those who wish a private garden and enjoy our summer Tuscan evenings outside: independent house situated just outside the castle walls, on two floors; on ground floor living-room with fireplace and extra bed if required, small bathroom with shower, kitchen in separate room; on first floor 2 bedrooms with double or twin beds, 2 private bathrooms with bathtub/shower.
Family apartment 5 people;
Argentina very spacious living room, ideal for families: on raised floor, faces east overlooking Chiana Valley; kitchen area, living-dining-room with fireplace, 2 bedrooms with double or twin beds, 2 private bathrooms with bathtub/shower; 1 extra bed on the gallery – best accommodation. 4+1 pax maximum.
Apartment 6 people;
Nerina the old school of the village with still an original school desk of 1950’s: house for six people, on ground floor, faces east overlooking a garden; living-dining room with separate kitchen area, 3 bedrooms with double or twin beds, 3 private bathrooms, 1 with bathtub and 2 with shower
Apartment for 8 people;
Fonteblanda II, nice view and a big garden for you, in one of the rooms you can see where Gargonza is built from: house for eight people, on two floors, faces Chiana Valley. Ground floor: living-room with fireplace, 2 bedrooms one with double and the other with both double or twin beds, both with private bathroom with bathtub; lower floor: dining-room with kitchen area 2 bedrooms one with double and the other with both double or twin beds, both with private bathroom with bathtub – good accommodation. 8 pax maximum.
Apartment for 10 people;
Contessa Francesca, a separate farmhouse: house for ten people; two-floor farmhouse located 250 yards from the village, near the swimming-pool and the restaurant. Ground floor: dining-room with kitchen area, spare room, bathroom with shower, bedroom with double or twin beds. First floor: living-room with fireplace, 4 bedrooms with both double or twins beds, 2 bathrooms with shower.
Classic Rooms;
Three double and one triple room (all double or twin beds), each with private bath/shower, are located in the corridor of the Main House Number 3, along the main walls and entrance gate. An additional hotel room (double bed only) with private bathroom/ shower is located at Number 12 next to two apartments Number 12. The house of the Fattore I (the former foreman), in the centre of Castle, has another two rooms. On first floor, facing south/east, bright and nicely done, can have double or twin beds and private bathroom (one with bathtub/shower and the other with shower Number 18).
Classic Rooms Foresteria;
7 hotel rooms, 4 located on ground floor by the entrance gate with private baths/shower; three additional hotel rooms are located in the central part of the village with private bath/ shower.

Stringent: No charges will be levied if booking is canceled 61 days prior to check-in. If cancellation is done between 30 to 60 days prior to check-in, 50% of the total booking amount will be charged. Post that, there will be no refund.
