When visiting Barbados, the first thing you are sure to notice are the gorgeous and renowned flat white sand beaches. On the west coast of Barbados, miles of coral shore beaches and fine white sands stretch along a hypnotising turquoise sea. The West Coast of Barbados is also fringed with countless breath-taking Coral Reefs to provide excellent snorkelling and scuba diving opportunities. The South Coast also offers something for everyone and is a curious mixture of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Here you can swim in calm waters, snorkel over the inshore reefs and tidal pools, and at the southernmost tip of the island, you can windsurf.
The villa is located on the West Coast of the island, which is not only a great area to enjoy the sea, but it also offers the best variety of activities and attractions on the island. Holetown is only 6 km away from the holiday home, so a visit to Barbados’ oldest settlement is a must! The town has several attractions of interest. Chattel Village is a combination of quaint and colourful shops with great local products. The picturesque town also includes a variety of bars, restaurants and good snorkelling spots!
Inland Barbados is delightful to explore, enchantingly quiet and rural, there are endless fields of sugar cane dotted with old plantation houses. Within less than 30 minutes driving you can go wildlife spotting at Welchman Hall Gully. This Tropical Forest Reserve is home to wild monkeys and majestic rainforest trees. A visit to this tropical hideaway makes a great day out with the family!
While on Barbados, a taste of the island’s rum is a must! The isle has been producing rum for over 350 years, and it is recognised internationally for its quality. Many tours and taster sessions are available at the local distilleries.
Best Suited For: All Ages
Barbados is the ideal destination to bring the family to, especially if you have some little explorers who are keen to see a new world.
Of course, children of all ages will be pleased by the crystal-clear waters - and adults can rest assured that the swim spots are safe. The best places to swim with young children include Mullins Bay, Accra Beach and Batts Rock. Many of these spots are small coves monitored by lifeguards. They also have amenities such as change rooms, bathrooms, food kiosks and playgrounds.
In the nearby Mullins Beach, Spy's Watersports offers several water-related activities, including the exclusive and extreme Flyboarding! For the little ones, other activities such paddle boarding or swimming with the turtles can also be enjoyed there.
For inland activities, look no further than Barbados Wildlife Reserve. Within Farley Hill National Park, the Reserve specialises in preserving the natural habitat and re-habilitating wildlife. The kids will love learning about animal preservation and will be able to see the renowned Green Monkeys fool around in trees. The Reserve also offers guests the use of dining facilities, so no need to bring a packed lunch!
