The German Colony is a fun neighborhood in the midst of Jerusalem. The main street, Emek Refaim is known for its street cafes and restaurants. Friday morning the street is crowded with people shopping for the Sabbath or having brunch. Thetachana, the old train station, has been renovated and is now a central hub of art, music and unique restaurants, even a merry-go-round. The train tracks have been transformed into a walking and running track that continues for kilometers beyond the Tachana, parallel to Emek Refaim Street. People watching, or just strolling the track, has become a favorite Jerusalem activity.
Beyond the Tachana one can venture to the Liberty Bell Park, the Windmill that overlooks the walls of the Old City, or to the Old City itself. Best to pass the Begin Museum, the Jerusalem Cinemateque, the Valley of Gehenom and climb the snake path, across from the original Yemin Moshe neighborhood. The view is magnificent.

There are bus stops all along Emek Refaim Street. Use Moovit to give you bus locations and times, and the bus system in Jerusalem is good. Taxis available to hail or use Gett Taxi. The light rail is a 15 minute walk from Emek Refaim Street. Car Rentals available at all major hotels. Jerusalem is best seen by walking but all forms of transport are available.

This apartment has the feel of Jerusalem above the trees. Very airy, modern. All warm golden stone and wood.
