Panchgani is a hill station in the Satara District of Maharashtra and a 4-5 hour drive from the big cities of Mumbai and Pune. Panchgani was originally settled by retired Britishers, but since it was pleasant throughout the year, others also settled there. A number of attempts to start schools were made in the 19th century and Panchgani has gone on to become famous for boarding schools. It also has Strawberry farms and is a relaxing weekend break for those looking for a change from the big city.
