The Pathway at Åkrasanden and Ferkingstad are also very popular in summer with rich bird life. The small town Åkreham is located at the edge of the North Sea and used to be Norway's foremost town in fishing. It is still possible to buy fresh fish, crab and shrimp in the harbour. Otherwise, the city is known for its small, idyllic wooden houses. Feel free to visit the coastal museum for history from earlier times in Åkrahamn. In the town centre there is a shopping mall with 30 shops, and there is walking distance to the nearest grocery store. There is also about. 20 min to Haugaland zoo in Torvastad with a wide range of animal species, open from May to September. Trips to the sailing ship town of Skudeneshavn and Haugesund for shopping can be recommended. Day trips to Stavanger, Preikestolen and Kongeparken.
