I enjoyed my stay very much with the Balnad family. The accommodations were private and comfortable. I had a bed room and western style bathroom both on the top floor of the house. This made the accommodations private as there was no other rooms on the top floor. I was served three home cooked meals a day. Once the family learned of my likes they prepared these foods. The thing that made my month with the family so outstanding was the family themself. I was made to feel at home from the first day. It was made clear to me that they wanted my stay to be positive in every way. I felt comfortable from the start to join the family in the main part of the house. Each member of the family did everything possible to make be feel at home. Part of this was answering my many questions about Mangalore and India. They showed me how to get around Mangalore and often drove me to places i wished to go. They did so many things to make me feel like a part of the family. Inviting me to go see a movie taking me to a wedding reception going to the beach. Getting me to a doctor appointment and many other such things. They truly went out of their way to both meet my needs and make me feel part of the family. The truly most remarkable part of my stay was how very kind and caring the family was. If someone is looking for something that far out does a hotel i would strongly recommend staying with this remarkable family. On top of all of this i traveled with a service dog i brought from America. They not only accepted her into there home but almost daily allowed me to explore the city and leave her in the home. Yes they even dog set. As it has turned out for me i now consider each of them as my friend. All of this was done while providing me with my privacy at all times. When i decided to stay with a family my first month in India instead of a hotel i had no idea what i might encounter. The idea was a little scary. I could not have made a better decision. I am very clear my introduction to India was made more special then i could have hoped for. because of this kind remarkable family.
