At the lodge, dreamy 360 degree views can be enjoyed from the roof terrace, including the best view of all - Jebel Toubkal - North Africa's highest peak. Night time is also special, on a cloud-free evening, stargazing at the lodge can be a magical experience.

Professionally guided group and private treks can be arranged by the lodge to all regions of the High Atlas. For many, climbing Mount Toubkal is the objective. For others, spending a few days at Dar Assarou provides a chance to escape and relax. Several day walks to nearby Berber villages and valleys are possible. We cater for non-residents and regularly prepare lunches and dinners for walking and trekking groups. Classic Moroccan dishes are prepared, heavily influenced by delicious Berber recipes.
Toubkal National Park is the leading adventure destination in North Africa. At its heart in the High Atlas Mountains is Mount Toubkal (Jebel Toubkal), the highest mountain in the region at 4,167m. Ancient mule trails criss-cross between valleys and isolated Berber villages making Toubkal National Park a paradise for walkers and trekkers. On our 'trek' pages, you'll find details of our walking and trekking itineraries. If trekking is not your thing, don't despair. The Imlil Valley and Toubkal National Park offer other things to do.

With the majestic High Atlas mountains, Anti-atlas mountains and Jebel Sahro range, Morocco offers almost limitless trails for the casual walker or serious trekker. All our walking and trekking holidays take place in remote, Off-the-beaten-track regions and include stays in traditional Berber villages inhabited by friendly local people who live a life that has changed little over hundreds of years. We offer a range of classic treks as well as gentler walking holidays often based in one or two centres.
Toubkal National Park has at its centre the highest mountain in North Africa. This iconic peak attracts trekkers from around the world attempting to summit Jebel Toubkal. Toubkal can be conquered in as little as two days from Imlil with an overnight at the Toubkal or Mouflon Refuges before the final ascent. Whatever time you can spare we can arrange a Toubkal trek which is tailored to your requirements. Whether it be a 2, 3, 4 or 5 day trek, or perhaps a ‘Grand Trek of the Atlas’, let us know – we’ll be delighted to advise you and arrange the logistics for your trek.
If you don’t like the idea of changing accommodation each night on a trekking circuit then consider staying at just one or two locations enjoying guided walks to Berber villages and beyond each day. With walks suiting all levels of ability these holidays offer the chance to experience the Atlas on foot returning to your chosen lodge each night. Combining Dar Assarou with Kasbah Africa in the Azzaden Valley, creates a varied walking holiday.
