The village is referred to as squid capital. As you live in the little village you don´t need a car. You can walk along the beautiful promenade of the this old town with its narrow streets and lovingly restored houses. There are many small restaurants and bars within walking distance. The distance to the beach “barril” can be reached by train and is about 1 km away. Barril beach has a Restaurant (shower / Wc). The beach of Santa Luzia ( Terra Estreita) can be reached by a short boat trip.
The small village of Santa Luzia is located in the lagoon "ria Formosa" and offers a beautiful waterfront with colorful fishing boats, restaurants, small shops and cafes. About 3 km away is Luz de Tavira with a fish and vegetable market, shops, banks, pharmacies, restaurants and cafes.
The picturesque town of Tavira with its 20 churches is located just 4 km away. There are shops, a large covered market, banks, post office and restaurants. There are also several excellent golf courses in close proximity.
