This attractive region of central Jutland offers a wide choice of things to do. Popular activities include walking and cycling through the lush woodlands, a sailing trip on the historic paddle steamer 'Hjejlen', canoeing on the Gudenå river, or an outing to one of the region's numerous lakes, many of which are excellent bathing spots. Anglers will find that the entire region offers plenty of opportunities to land a catch, with the lakes around Skanderborg especially popular. This region's central location means that many of Denmark's most popular attractions can be reached in less than an hour, including Legoland, Givskud Zoo and Safari Park, Djurs Sommerland amusement park, the Kattegat centre, 'AQUA' - Northern Europe's largest freshwater aquarium - and the 'Old Town' - a living urban museum located in the centre of Aarhus.
