Cottage stay - Camellia Cottage at Maple Hill

Our pet friendly property is set on 10 acres located in the beautiful Huon Valley amongst the cherry and apple orchards of Castle Forbes Bay, only 42 km from Hobart. Just 1 km off the main Huon Highway (A6), it is the ideal location for a base to explore Tasmania’s rich wilderness South of Hobart. Discover diverse and charming towns such as Cygnet & Geeveston and the rich history of small coastal settlements such as Cockle Creek. For food and wine lovers, the area boasts some of the finest salmon, cheeses, fresh grown produce and quality ciders that are a highlight of a visit to the region.

We offer two types of accommodation, the first is the cottage itself. This cozy one bedroom cottage which sleeps three was built in the 1890’s and is tucked into the hillside amongst two acres of country gardens directly behind the main house. With its own private deck it is the ideal place to relax and enjoy a drink while taking in the stunning views over the orchards to the Huon River. On cold nights stay warm snuggled up by the open fire. Drive in, park the car and it’s an easy walk up to the cottage.

The second option is to stay in the main house. Here there are two queen size rooms with a shared adjoining lounge and spa bathroom (while the bathroom is shared there are two toilets), ideal for couples traveling together or family groups.

Feel free to wander in the gardens, or climb the hill in the paddock for some really spectacular views. There is various seating hidden amongst the rambling gardens, relax with a coffee or even a picnic! Pets are welcome in both areas as long as they are clean and well supervised. If you don’t have dog blankets with you, we can provide old coverings so your pet can enjoy lazing inside with you. For those guests staying two or more nights, we also offer a pet minding service, so you can relax and enjoy the various attractions knowing your pet is being well cared for in your absence.

A delicious Continental breakfast is provided with breads, fruit, preserves, cereals, juice and fresh local produce.
