The region is also home to some of Denmark's most attractive countryside including Heatherhill, a protected natural area containing, as its name suggests, rolling, heather-clad hills. Around Heatherhill, high cliffs and strong winds provide ideal conditions for paragliding. Other local attractions include the 'Troll Forest', an area of coastal woodland stretching from Tisvildeleje to the Asserbo Plantation containing ancient, distinctively crooked, coniferous trees. This region also offers good coastal fishing opportunities, especially on the reef beyond Smidstrup Strand. North Zealand is also an excellent destination for golf enthusiasts, with good courses at Passebækgård, Gilleleje, Helsinge and Asserbo.
