Around 15 kilometres southeast of the town, you will find the Helnaes archipelago, an area renowned for its unique, unspoiled countryside, clear water and attractive bathing beaches. Ten kilometres north of Assens is the attractive cape of Sandager Næs, an ideal destination for those who enjoy fishing, hiking, cycling or simply enjoying the countryside in peaceful surroundings. Why not pack a picnic hamper and take the ferry from Assens to the small, attractive island of Baagø, which is a popular destination for a day trip? Or how about renting one of the popular pedal trolleys which have room for 3-4 people and allow the whole family to experience the countryside in an entirely different way?
