In the year of 1900, this magnificent property and the home of the British spice trader known as ‘Judge’s Bunglaw’ was purchased by Mr. T.M.Moosa, grandfather of Mr.Moosa. He belonged to a distinguished Mappila family in Malabar and was a locallite spice merchant.

The ancestral home has been passed on to the next generations and is currently possessed by Mr. Moosa, a known planter, who has carried forward the spice traders’ family till date. He has also converted this home as a homestay to the tourists for revisiting the history of Malabar.

Our property is yet another reason to experience an Indian living! The warm hospitality being the vital element of Indian culture is generously poured out to their guests making them have a beautiful stay.

A red carpet spread to the tourist to mingle with the Indian culture, traditions, cuisine and a lot more. The home is an ideal place for any tourists to rejuvenate their mind, body and soul. From a weekend break to the corporate meet ups, ours is a second home to many. The soft breeze fanned by the green dancing coconut leaves, silvery sand, blue water fronts and clear blue sky above; all together makes the home a paradise dropped in the nature’s extravaganza.

The real authentic architecture of the bygone era is exhibited in the exterior pattern and the interior built. The steeply slanting tiled roof and the solid stone walls of this double storied house stand out in the elevation. The long veranda is much welcoming with its spacious sitting area and natural lighting. As you step in, the home is heavily furnished with the wood that has been the evergreen trend of the olden ancestral homes. The massive four poster beds, large dining table, the strong armed chairs, antique dresser, large mirrors, writing desks, etc., are the charm preserved for the tourists to explore the never-seen and the long-gone. At our property, the history, tradition and the rich culture are ever lingering. It opens the doors to relive the narration.

For the nature lovers, there is a pool area adjacent to the house overlooking the sea. The sunrise and sunset is celebrated each day at this corner. About the hosts

They are the passionate hosts who are genuinely engaged in the activities that offers comfort to their guests. Mr.Moosa, the elderly and gentle individual belongs to the planter family who has the keen interest in delivering the best of what Kerala has to offer to its tourists. He is a good narrator and suggests how the holiday could be made fruitful by helping the guests to plan the trip. Mrs. Faiza Moosa, being known as a Malabar Cuisine expert is always delighted to cook the guests’ choice from the in-house kitchen and serve on time. She also offers Cookery classes to the tourists on request.

A walk with Mr.Moosa to the local Fish Market
Mr.Moosa is delighted to take his guests for a morning walk along with him to the local fish markets. The markets are usually crowded in the peak time and interestingly noisy with the fish mongers’ beckoning howl. The table tops exhibits a variety of fishes stacked for sale. The fishes are bought according to the choice of the guests as Seafood preparations are a good recommendation to any tourists in Malabar. Some of the main seafood preparations are with Seer fish, Pomfret, Pearl spot, prawns (mostly Tiger prawns preferred), Mussels, Crabs, Squids, etc.

Spice Market in thalassery has great historical significance as it was the spice trade that created lure for the English to come to Kerala. Moreover, Thalassery has been the famous spice trading centre in Kerala.

Stringent: No charges will be levied if booking is canceled 61 days prior to check-in. If cancellation is done between 30 to 60 days prior to check-in, 50% of the total booking amount will be charged. Post that, there will be no refund.
