Rømø is renowned for its wide open spaces, which are best enjoyed on foot via the attractive walking paths, or by bicycle on the old country lanes. The island is compact enough to cycle round in just a couple of hours, although both nature and history lovers will find much to distract them en-route. For those who would rather just lie on the beach and relax, Romø is also an excellent choice. The island s main beach is not only one of best in Europe, but also one of the richest in amber. A stroll along the beach provides a good chance of finding pieces of sea gold washed up onto the shore, especially after a northerly storm.
