Summary

No Car Needed/dishwasher/wifi/washing Machines-dryer/1 Min To Escalator/car Space Available At Discounted Rate In La Posterna - 10 Mins Via Free Travellator Or By Foot.

This huge house, tastefully modernized to suit this 13 century pallazo, and, converted into 2 self contained apartments, is located a few steps away from Piazza Madonna degli Orti (literally 2 mins walk from the public escalator. )

The large apt sleeps 6 :

3 double bedrooms + 2 bathrooms + 1 dining room with fully fitted kitchen + 1 sitting room with 9C lit up well behind a glass door, to which you will have the key.

This apt is on 2 floors.

The smaller apt sleeps 4 (up a few steps :

2 double bedrooms + 1 bathroom + 1 sitting/dining room with fully fitted kitchen.

This apt is all on the flat.

Full Details :

The building was originally built in the year 1200, and for this reason, neither of the flats has a terrace. Terraces were unheard of that long ago! However, you can sit outside in the tiny lane running alongside one side of the Palazzo.

The large flat (entrance in Via Dell’assalto) contains a fresco of the Virgin from the 13th century on the wall of the main bedroom, and with an original ancient Roman well in the dining room (it has been made completely safe, no danger – it’s behind a glass door with a lock. You will have the key so it’s completely child proof).

Summary :

The large apartment : on two floors.

The upper floor has 2 bedrooms, with a total of 3 beds, one bathroom with tub/shower, a corridor and a separate, large living room (walls and doors are all painted nicely).

The ground floor has another double bedroom with bathroom, and a big kitchen/dining room with a very large, beautiful wooden table, to seat 10 persons.

Both the dining room and the living room upstairs have a fireplace.

The smaller apartment: two bedrooms with a total of 3 beds, a kitchen/dining room/living room with fully fitted kitchen plus fireplace and an attic room – great for storage and long term guests!

Both apartments are comfortably furnished in a mix of styles as befits a family home. Priceless family heirlooms (writing desks, a couple of tables, paintings and an amazing wardrobe) are placed alongside modern lounge furniture, bedroom furniture, kitchens and bathrooms.

Many of the walls are frescoed in the old tradition.

And, the whole place has a comfortable air with an edge of luxury provided by the exquisite pieces of furniture dotted around the place.

There is central heating throughout. However, with 3 fireplaces, this makes this remarkable townhouse a great place to be in the winter months, especially over the Christmas period. Wood can be bought very cheaply from local supermarkets – about 4 euros/bag.

In the summer months, the house stays wonderfully cool because of its ancient thick stone walls.

This large house stands in a quiet enclave in the oldest part of central Spoleto. Yet, it is only a few paces to the nearest grocery store.

There is an old established bakery and grocery store immediately across the narrow lane – just a few paces.

And it’s a mere 5 mins walk to the Duomo and the top of Spoleto.

There are shops, bars and restaurants all within your immediate environment. As well as churches, monuments, galleries, antique shops and theatres.

Market day is every Friday. And there’s a huge Sunday Market, 1st Sunday of each month.

Info Re The Owners :

Originally, it was a family home, owned by the then Chief of the Carabinieri of Spoleto (the military and most powerful police force in Italy). Now, he has become a Colonel and he has taken up higher investigative duties in Rome. Yes, he’s an extremely powerful Person!!!

His wife is a doctor, who is Head of the drugs legislation throughout the Eu. And their young daughter is studying for her Phd in Economics.

They sound a frighteningly competent family. In fact, like many other very successful people, they are extremely down to earth, modest and lovely people!

Anyway, the point is they can only visit their beloved Spoleto occasionally. This is why they decided to offer their beautiful home to the holiday rental market.
