Castelsardo faces the center of the Asinara Gulf, in the historic region of Anglona in the north of Sardinia, in a succession of rocky trachyte coasts with small coves, with the exception of the beach of Lu Bagnu. Thanks to this position the town, in addition to being exposed to the winds, enjoys a unique panorama spanning all the coasts of the gulf, including those of Corsica.
Archaeological sites to visit

Among the archaeological sites we point out:
the Elephant Rock, located at km 4.3 of the SS 134 that leads to Sedini;
the prenuragic megalithic walls of Mount Ossoni, near Multeddu;
the nuraghe Paddaju, plus various other nuraghi that are difficult to reach or still in the census phase

The entire coast, up to Santa Teresa, is crossed by a scenic road that allows you to divert on beautiful hidden coves. Moving from Stintino to Porto Torres is the Balai beach, a beach of white sand and emerald waters. Continuing towards S. Teresa di Gallura, past Castelsardo, Valledoria, Badesi, Isola Rossa, the elegant Costa Paradiso opens; do not miss Cala li Cossi, a beach set between pink granite rocks and Cala Tinnari, at the foot of Mount Tinnari, a small strip of sand surrounded by large rocks shaped by the wind. Both beaches, however, can only be reached on foot from a certain point. Immediately afterwards, the expansive beach of Rena Majore and Cala Faa deserve a visit.
The tradition of typical Sardinian cuisine, just like the family one, boasts very ancient roots, at the beginning agro pastorali that slowly expanded, acquiring over time also the fish-based dishes and molluscs typical of fishermen. Sardinia, in fact, in the past, was mainly inhabited in the wooded areas of the hinterland, while the coasts, either for the Punic / Phoenician invasions, or for the unhealthy environment, were almost deserted.

Traditional Sardinian Cuisine
The shepherds during the long periods in the pastures with the flocks, they needed simple and nutritious dishes (accompanied by the characteristic house wine), comfortable to carry and resistant to high and low temperatures. For this reason Sardinian cuisine has such a wide selection of sausages and cheeses that are tasty and aged and above all we must mention the famous Carasau bread, delicious thin and light sheets of bread, extremely comfortable to carry.

One of the typical Sardinian dishes, one of those "poor" but extremely practical that uses the carasau is the "pani Frattau", in which five or six sheets of carasau are placed one on the other and interspersed with layers of sauce, to then come cooked in a pan with a nice egg on top. Practical and exquisite!

The famous roast suckling pig is the strong point of Sardinian cuisine, but it is always better to have a fireplace at home to prepare it
The dishes vary according to the areas, keeping the fact of being Sardinian typical dishes as a common denominator; the Gallurese soup for example, as can be seen from the name, is proposed mostly in Gallura, in the area of Sassari and Olbia; the fregola, small balls of pasta, is seasoned with clams and seafood in the lower Campidano area

Places Of Culture Between Museums And Nuraghi

route of about 20 km for about 20 minutes by car. A stretch of road that has its starting point in the "Valley of the Moon" in the Municipality of Aggius up to touching the Municipality of Trinità D’agultu. A scenario that from the mountain winds towards the sea, set inside red granite rocks, shaped and pampered by the mistral wind.

 Nuraghe Izzana- Aggius -
It is located in the Municipality of Aggius, in the Valley of the Moon, probably the largest in Gallura. It is a very particular complex nuraghe, which from the typological point of view has characteristics of both the most archaic corridor nuraghi, frequent in Gallura, and the more common "tholos" nuraghi. The plant has an oblong triangular shape with rounded corners, several entrances allow an easy access, it is entirely built in granite with very well worked stones of big dimensions.

- Ethnographic Museum "Olivia Carta Cannas - Aggius -
The structure easy to reach right at the entrance of the town, has an area of 880 square meters. of covered area; 250 square meters of gardens and patios; 18 exhibition spaces. It houses the "Permanent Exhibition of the Aggese carpet", of the culture and traditions of the Gallura from 1600 to the present day.

The historical memory of the ancient village to revive and to offer to guests and visitors as an additional attraction of Aggius. It is the M.e.o.c., the Ethnographic Museum "Oliva Cannas", from the name of the person to whom it is entitled by virtue of the donation to the Municipality of the old rooms and the courtyard on which the museum structure falls by the sons Matteo and Giovanni Andrea. The latter, an architect and expert on local culture, established in the first decades of the twentieth century that craft school which has transformed the archaic art of weaving wool and linen from a domestic task to a profession. A large structure in the old part of the town, the museum includes the old textile rooms that have become the domestic environment, with its appliances for the processing of bread and cheese and the storage of stocks, and a large wing of new construction.

Activities: Organized guided tours of the historic center of the town, food and wine tastings, Educational, Welcome Party, nature trails, visit to archaeological sites

 Li Fati's Conca - Trinita 'D’agultu -
It consists of an artificial cave near Isola Rossa, called by the locals "Conca di li Fati" (lit. "Cavern of the Witches"). Carved out of the hard reddish granite rock typical of the area, it has two rooms, with the only entrance facing south. It is easily reachable from the town by taking the road to Paduledda-trinità; after the climb after the junction for La Marinedda,
Casa delle Streghe is the nickname, of popular origin, with which, in all of Sardinia, the prehistoric caves carved in the rock, dating back to the Neolithic age, are used and used as a burial place for the dead. The name derives from the popular superstition that saw in them houses of tiny beings, endowed with magical powers, such as goblins or fairies. The spread of this conviction has certainly contributed to the structure of the tombs themselves, tending to reproduce, in the smallest details, what was the "house of the living", as if to represent a continuity between earthly life and that of the afterlife.

 Nuraghe Bastianazzu- Trinità D’agultu -
Known as "Nuraghe Paduledda", it rises near the sea along the stretch of coast to the west of Isola Rossa. It is easily reachable from the town of Paduledda taking the road to La Scalitta and following the signs that lead to the typical restaurant Lu Naragu, from which the monument is easily visible. The building given its position, on top of a hill, with a wide panoramic view of the territory, would make one think of a sighting structure connected with other nuraghes, which existed in the area until not long ago and of which today no trace remains. , if not in toponymy or in old topographic maps. In reality, the type of construction suggests something more complex than a simple lookout post. The masonry is in the typical granite of the area, with large rough-hewn boulders, arranged in an irregular manner with smaller stones, to ensure a good static balance. The only entrance, with architrave, is located at noon. Once past the entrance, the situation on the left is not easily decipherable due to a partial collapse of the structure. A staircase is not unlikely.
