Bustling Jalan Raya Semer is just one kilometre from the villa, where you will find local and international cafés, a bakery, Bali Buda – a one-stop holistic shop/cafe, a British-style pub called the Plumber's Arms and shops selling Indonesian-style home wares and furnishings. Berawa Beach and Echo Beach are about six kilometres from the villa – both are good for surfing, but are not really swimming beaches, as the waves can be rough. Echo beach also has a choice of places to eat, including The Beach House and Sate Bali, which do nightly seafood barbecues. The beach at Batu Bolong (5km) also has some good eateries – including the highly atmospheric Hotel Tugu, filled with wonderful antiques.
